Amlendu Shekhar

Software engineer with four years across full-stack product teams — most recently at trivago, now a scientific assistant at RWTH Aachen while finishing an MS in Data Science.

I work across the whole span of a problem — the data model underneath, the architecture in the middle, and the interface people actually touch. Alongside that: data science, AWS architecture and security.

About

I started out as a .NET developer in Gurugram, moved to Germany, and spent a year and a half at trivago building and maintaining the administration platform that advertisers and accommodations run on — React and TypeScript on top of a Node and GraphQL layer, with Vitest coverage on everything I shipped and SOX-compliant review on everything I touched.

Today I am a scientific assistant at RWTH Aachen's process-mining group, working on ToTEM, a Temporal Object-Type Miner for object-centric event logs. I implemented its Object-Centric Causal Nets: you point the tool at an OCEL and get back an interactive, auto-laid-out net you can actually explore.

What ties it together is wanting to understand the layer below the one I am working on. That is what led me into data science, AWS architecture and security.

Outside work I write small, self-contained tools for problems I personally have. Two of them, Lamplight and RoadReady, started exactly that way.

RWTH Aachen University Jun 2026 — present

Aachen, Germany · process mining research

  • Building ToTEM, a Temporal Object-Type Miner for analysing Object-Centric Event Logs (OCEL).
  • Implemented Object-Centric Causal Nets: researchers discover an OCCN from an OCEL and explore it as an interactive, auto-laid-out dashboard component.

Software Engineer (Working Student)

trivago Nov 2024 — Apr 2026

Düsseldorf, Germany

  • Developed and maintained the administration platform managing advertisers and accommodations.
  • Built full-stack features in React, Node.js and TypeScript, using GraphQL to orchestrate data across frontend, backend and external services.
  • Took part in architectural design sessions — evaluating tooling and aligning technical decisions across the team.
  • Wrote Vitest unit tests for every functionality shipped, keeping quality measurable rather than assumed.
  • Worked under strict review practice: SOX compliance checks, AI-assisted review with CodeRabbit, and peer review. Used LLMs with MCP servers to speed up the day-to-day.

Lamplight

lamplight.ink · single-file HTML

A one-page PDF reader that redraws papers in calm, low-glare colours. Reading white-background PDFs is a small floodlight pointed at your face; Lamplight re-renders every page in a quieter palette, with hue-preserving dark mode so a blue bar in a chart stays blue.

Open a file or paste an arXiv link, keep a shelf of papers with your place in each, and come back tomorrow to find it waiting. Zero dependencies, zero build step, nothing uploaded anywhere — the whole app is one index.html.

Car Price Prediction

Google Cloud App Engine · Python

A resale-price predictor for the Indian used-car market. Enter city, year of purchase, kilometres driven, mileage, engine and power, and it estimates what the car is worth now.

The interesting half was upstream of the model: data cleaning, feature engineering and selection, encoding categorical variables and handling missing data. A linear regression model is trained, serialised with pickle, and served from Flask on GCP App Engine.

connect.io

Real-time multiplayer game · TypeScript

A word game for up to eight people. Everyone types one word blind, and when the fifteen seconds are up they all land at once — match somebody and you both leave the circle.

The catch: a word that has been played can never be played again, by anyone. Nobody can fall back on the obvious, so each round the group has to find a new middle — king → messi → fifa.

ASSOCIATE · AUG 2024 — AUG 2027

Designing secure, high-performing, resilient and cost-optimised architectures on AWS — EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM and the rest of the core service set, applied to scalable, fault-tolerant solutions.

The part that stuck with me most is the cost dimension: optimising a workload for spend without quietly trading away security or availability.
